After having it been given to him as a gift from his stepfather, Michael’s natural talent for songwriting quicky came to light, he wrote song after song on his new-found friend. After hanging in the folk music scene with his girlfriend and eventual wife Phyllis Barbour, Michael’s talents for business also began to stir. Smart and Spiritual, Peter was hot and hip when he emerged in the 60’s

Peter Tork was always running towards music. At a very young age Peter had decided he wanted to be a performer, If he was going to be a musician, a singer, a dancer or an actor, He was undecided about, but he was sure that for him, the show had to go on. Peter left home to live with like-minded people in the village in New York, and found his dreams getting crushed, like most of us do. Peter found himself working as a dish washer of all things. Peter had experience being a singer in the village and had already practiced and perfected the art of playing the piano, the Guitar and Bass. Peter Could play A vast variety of Musical instruments to some degree and Was a very talented Singer. So naturally, When his Dear Friend Stephen Stills, was turned down for a promising new role on Television, he immediately thought of recommending the most talented Man he knew, Peter Tork. The Members of The Monkees 1960’s

It is a truth Universally acknowledged, by Monkees fans everywhere, that there is just something about the Monkees, Something about Micky, Something about Davy, Something about Michael, Something about Peter, that makes the world seem better, the hurt seem a little bit less and the light of hope and happiness shine a little bit brighter. You can analyze it, is it the songs? Is it the show? Is it the colors? Is it the culture? But in the end, Michael Nesmith, or Mike as he was called in his early Monkee Days, or Nes as he was called in his later Monkee days, said it the best. I can’t recall the exact quote, but this was in it’s essence, and it’s word structure for the most part.

“The Monkees show was able to capture an innocence and a light that doesn’t exist anywhere else, I don’t know how or why it was, but it did, and I think that is what people love about it. And why they are drawn to it over and over through out time.”
